Play Your Cards! - Book on History of Cards
Play Your Cards! is a wonderful book that features the history of playing cards, card boxes, and games complete with color photos, descriptions, and any and everything playing cards. It also has full color photos of early card boxes, that along with the card decks are in the the Bruce Museum in Greenwich, Connecticut. This would be the perfect book for the serious collector, avid card player, or anyone who enjoys learning the history behind simple things that are taken for granted. The decks and card boxes covered in this book are from the civil war era, to 1820's circa cards from India, Native American rawhide cards, card boxes carved from bone by French prisoners of war from 1790 through 1814, as well as baseball cards from 1888, to the playing cards we have all seen and used in present day, and everything between.
